If you see your storage space, open your wardrobe or closet and are overwhelmed by the sheer mess, you need to put your clothes and other accessories in order. The best way to do this is to remove everything, though you can do it one shelf or hanging space at a time, so that you don’t give up before you start.

Once you have taken everything out, go through the stuff and put back the things that you need on a daily basis. You can color coordinate the clothes or put them according to the type they are, such as all trousers together, all shirts and t-shirts together and so on.

Formal clothes should go on one side and party and daily wear clothes should be separated as well, so it becomes easier to choose when you are about to dress up. If you put short clothes on one side, you may free up some bottom shelving space as well, in which you can put other stuff in storage boxes or baskets.

When it comes to your clothes, you may need to be heartless. If you haven’t worn an item in the last year, then it’s time to get rid of it. Clothes that are too big, too small, out of fashion, or not in season, should either be donated or stored elsewhere, so that your closet space is freed up.

Once you have put everything neatly away, you will find that the storage space is more manageable and you have done a lot in the way of how you can organize your room

Storage around The Bed

If you don’t have a storage bed, you can make use of under bed storage. This is best done by using vacuum sealable bags, which will protect clothes and also make them compact and easier to store. A bedside table next to your bed should be kept neat and tidy.

If you don’t have space for a bedside table, put in a couple of shelves above your bed, just make sure you have head clearance height. Here, you can put your reading material, lamp, and other items you may need during the night.

The bed uses up the most space in a bedroom. A large double bed in a small room may not be a good idea. If your room is small, think about downsizing your bed so that it takes up less space or opt for a storage bed. How to organize your room will become a much easier task.

Dressing Table

A dressing table with mirror and lights add to the décor of a room. How to organize a room includes your all-important dressing table. Keep cosmetic and items you don’t need regularly in a drawer or small cupboard under the dressing table. If you have a range of lipsticks, get a fancy rack for putting them. When you are short of dressing table space, consider hanging some narrow vertical shelving to put your bottles and potions.

You will probably have cosmetic brushes, hairbrushes and combs, hair accessories and more. These can be arranged artfully in small cane or bamboo baskets. With powder and sprays flying around, make sure that you wipe down the dressing table area often.

Other parts of the room which may need organizing including curtains, duvets or bedspreads, cushions, throws and the like. All these add to the room décor, and you should choose colors that look good and with which you are comfortable. When you start on how to organize your room, it makes sense to go from big to small areas as bigger ones take more time. Smaller places are easier to tackle, so if you can’t finish the work in one day, you can do it the next day.
